
Laura Onyama is a talented Cameroonian actress, producer, and wildlife documentary filmmaker, born on October 14, 1992, in Buea, Cameroon. She has gained recognition for her roles in films such as Rumble (2014), Kiss of Death (2015), The Fisherman’s Diary (2020), and A Cry from the Forest (2023). Throughout her career, Laura has won several awards, including Best Cameroonian Actress at the Ecrans Noirs Film Festival in 2016 and Best Actress at the Cameroon International Film Festival in 2017, 2021, and 2024.
In addition to her acting career, Laura is a passionate advocate for nature and environmental conservation. In 2020, she partnered with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to promote biodiversity and sustainable development, collaborating with fellow artists to support the WWF’s “New Deal for Nature and People” initiative. Her commitment to these causes is exemplified in her 2023 film, A Cry from the Forest, produced with WWF’s backing.
Laura became a Nature Environment and Wildlife Filmmakers (NEWF) fellow in 2023 and has participated in training through the AFRICA REFOCUSED program in partnership with the National Geographic Society. She is currently working on a documentary titled Sa terre, Sa voix, produced by the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and NEWF.
