PACC Policy Participated in a 4-Day Training Workshop on Sustainable Mining Practices

Venue: University of Mines & Technology (UMaT) Tarkwa, Ghana
The inter-ministerial task forces for small-scale miners organize a four day training workshop for the media. The workshop was designed to equip the media in the reportage on galamsey issue and to train the participants for the training on sustainable mining practices, mining without polluting the environment. Some of the various topics that were treated at the workshop were Environmental health safety, Mining Policies and Laws, Water Resources Management, Mining Processing, CRS and Sustainable Development and Introduction to Mining.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Peter Amewu, formed a ministerial committee to fight the Illegal (Galamsey) menace in the Ghana. The ten-member ministerial committee includes, National Security, Ministry of the Interior, Lands and Natural Resources, Ministry of Water and Sanitation as well as Ministry of Environment Science, Technology and Innovation. The committee will have 5 years to complete their task of dealing with the illicit mining.
