Director – Climate Risk and Resilience

Lubna is a climate risk and adaptation specialist with extensive experience in risk assessment, climate scenario analysis, resilience planning, and evidence-based policy support across government, research, and nonprofit sectors. Her work focuses on integrating scientific analysis with policy and community needs to enhance climate resilience at local, regional, and national levels.

For more than ten years, Lubna has been working as an adaptation expert in Canada. She has led the development of localized climate projections, adaptation content, and key performance indicators that support municipal planning and national knowledge platforms. Her expertise includes geospatial analytics, climate scenario development, green infrastructure, and nature-based solutions, ensuring that climate information is translated into actionable, community-informed strategies.

In the early stages of her career, Lubna made significant contributions to women-focused research and advocacy through a UN Women flagship program in Bangladesh. She led research and capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the climate resilience and livelihoods of women who are disproportionately affected by environmental changes.

Additionally, she served as a national trainer for UNDP’s CapNet water capacity-building program, which aimed to improve institutional water governance and climate literacy across South Asia.

Lubna has gained international recognition for her work, including receiving the British Council Climate Champion Award. She was also honored as a visionary leader for the Global South at the Planet Under Pressure Conference in 2012. As a visible minority and a member of an equity-seeking community, Lubna leads with empathy, cultural awareness, and a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She is dedicated to ensuring that climate action remains inclusive, science-driven, and socially just.
