THE CANADA AFRICA PARTNERSHIP (CAP) NETWORK
The CAP Network is a registered Canadian charity that facilitates partnerships between Canadian and African communities to advance community development efforts. By working together the Network increases collective impact, enabling support for African community-led development efforts and building solidarity for a more equitable, healthy and sustainable future. The vision of the PACC Policy to a larger extent aligns with that of CAP Network, and this why we consider this partnership as the cornerstone to achieving our goal.
THE UNITED NATIONS FRAMEWORK CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE
The UNFCCC secretariat (UN Climate Change) is the United Nations entity tasked with supporting the global response to the threat of climate change. UNFCCC stands for United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Convention has near universal membership (197 Parties) and is the parent treaty of the 2015 Paris Agreement. The main aim of the Paris Agreement is to keep the global average temperature rise this century as close as possible to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The UNFCCC is also the parent treaty of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. The ultimate objective of all three agreements under the UNFCCC is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that will prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system, in a time frame which allows ecosystems to adapt naturally and enables sustainable development. The vision of PACC Policy, to: “Increase the level of awareness on Climate Policies in line with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) through trained climate change corps, educators and reporters” is a testament to our unflinching efforts to advance, promote and support the work of UNFCCC.
GLOBAL CULTURAL ADVENTURERS
Global Cultural Adventurers (GCA) is an international education group, which aims to build a global platform of cultural exchange and international internship for youth.
THE GREEN PLANET INITIATIVE INTERNATIONAL
The Green Planet Initiative International (GPII) is founded on the Earth Charter, an international declaration of fundamental values and principles considered useful for building a just, sustainable and peaceful global society in the 21st century. GPII is a non-government, non- profit, non-political, non-religious organization with headquarters in Nigeria. Founded in 2008, and registered in 2011 (Registration Number: VSO/01079). The organization strives on the principles of equity and justice. This we believe is an unavoidable tool required to achieve the sustainability of the environment and human life on the planet. PACC Policy is happy to maintain a great working relation with GPII to advance our shared common goals.
FORESTS, RESOURCES AND PEOPLE
Based in Limbe, Cameroon, Forests, Resources and People (FOREP) operates as a network, working in close collaboration with local and international organisations. FOREP works to promote ecologically sound, socially equitable and economically viable strategies for the wise management of forest resources in ways that improve the livelihoods of rural and urban people. PACC Policy has been working with FOREP to advance women’s role in climate change adaptation and mitigation through radio broadcasting frequency hosted by Eternity Gospel Radio. We partnered with FOREP to collect primary data on the effect of climate change issues on the increasing rate of girls school-drop-out in Limbe, Cameroon. The data contributed to PACC Policy research on: “Creating Funding for Girls’ Education Through Green Bonds: A Win-Win for Climate Change Mitigation and Reduced Population Growth”.
THINK RENEWABLES GROUP
Think Renewables Group (TRG) facilitates funding for commercial scale renewable energy and energy storage projects to help finance its social business initiatives, which include manufacturing communications systems designed for areas with limited internet access as well as a project called ThinkBiz Africa. ThinkBiz Africa is social business initiative that is developing a network of solar-powered small business (SBiz) Centres to facilitate both education and entrepreneurship in underserved communities, especially for girls. PACC Policy as part of our partnership with TRG received technical support and assistance to develop a research paper on: “Creating Funding for Girls’ Education Through Green Bonds: A Win-Win for Climate Change Mitigation and Reduced Population Growth”. PACC Policy is on the advisory board of the Climate Solutions Advancement Network (ClimateSAN) an initiative of TRG. This network promotes awareness of climate change and investment in solutions that mitigate and adapt to this change. PACC Policy and TRG has collaborated with other organizations and climate change enthusiasts to form the Africa Climate Action Initiative.
